Basic SEO – All you need to know about Search Engine Optimization

What is it, and why is it important?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It’s the practice of increasing both the quality and quantity of website traffic, as well as exposure to your brand, through non-paid (also known as “organic”) search engine results.

How Search Engine Works?

It’s about understanding what people are searching for online, the answers they are seeking, the words they’re using, and the type of content they wish to consume. Knowing the answers to these questions will allow you to connect to the people who are searching online for the solutions you offer.

Keyword Research

Keyword research provides you with specific search data that provide list of words that people are searching for;

  • What are people searching for?
  • How many people are searching for it?
  • In what format do they want that information?

On-Site Optimization

It begins with optimized design, user experience, information architecture, and all the ways you can adjust how you publish content to maximize its visibility and resonance with your audience.

Technical SEO

By implementing responsive design, robot directives, and other technical elements like structured data and meta tags, you can tell Google (a robot itself) what your site is all about. This helps it rank for the right things.

Link Building

Inbound links, also known as backlinks or external links, are HTML hyperlinks that point from one website to another.

Internal links, or links that connect internal pages of the same domain, work very similarly for your website.

Track Performance

Use Google Analytics to track your performance such as;

  • Conversion Rate : The number of conversions (for a single desired action/goal) divided by the number of unique visits.
  • Time on page : How long did people spend on your page?
  • Pages per visit : Keep readers engaged and take them to a next step
  • Bounce rate : Website quality metric for tracking a searcher visited the page and left without browsing your site any further.
  • Scroll depth : How far visitors scroll down individual webpages.
  • Search traffic : Ranking vs. organic search showing up in search chosen by searchers
